Six Minor Girls Go Missing in Navi Mumbai, Sparking Urgent Police Search

Navi Mumbai: A wave of concern has swept across Navi Mumbai after six minor girls went missing from different parts of the city in just a few days. While kidnappings are likely the cause of these cases, families are understandably quite upset, and the community as a whole has dedicated substantial resources toward searching for the girls.

The missing girls have all reportedly gone missing in various locations within the Navi Mumbai Police jurisdiction, such as Turbhe and the precinct of the APMC Police Station.

The Missing Girls: Case by Case

The most recent cases were reported on Friday.

  • In one incident, a 14-year-old girl from Turbhe left her home and never returned. Police are trying to trace her path using CCTV cameras, but the footage has not yet provided any clear leads.
  • Similarly, a 16-year-old girl from the NRI-Seawoods area also went missing. She was living alone, and her mobile phone has been switched off, making it difficult for the police to track her location.

Before these two incidents, four other girls had disappeared:

  • 17-year-old girl went missing from the Koparkhairane area.
  • In Turbhe Naka, a 15-year-old girl did not come home on November 17. Worryingly, the official police complaint was filed ten days later, on November 27, which could hamper the investigation.
  • Two other girls were reported missing from the Rabale and APMC areas.

Police Launch Full-Scale Investigation

The Navi Mumbai Police considers these incidents extremely urgent, as separate kidnapping reports have been submitted for each of the missing girls, and a detailed investigation is underway into each case.

Police teams are working around the clock, using various methods to find the girls:

  • Scanning CCTV Footage: Officers are carefully reviewing hours of video from cameras installed in shops and public areas.
  • Digital Tracking: They are attempting to trace the girls’ mobile phone locations, though this has been difficult in cases where the phones are off.
  • Speaking to Families and Friends: Police are gathering information from the girls’ families and friends to understand their last known movements and state of mind.

Currently, the police have no concrete evidence upon which they can act in regards to their investigations; however, there has been a growing level of community concern over the six missing girls since a significant number of CCTV cameras are installed around the city but none of them have captured any of the girls.

A Worrying Situation for the City

Due to Navi Mumbai’s past history of missing children, parents, and other community members are now anxious about the safety of their children living and growing up in a rapidly expanding and developing city of Navi Mumbai.

The families of the six missing girls are under tremendous stress and are continuing to search for any information they can find. All members of the community hope that all six missing girls will return home safe and sound.

The Police reassured the community that they will do everything in their power to investigate all of these incidents and reunite the girls with their respective families. The investigation is currently the top priority for the department.
